When you are a 6-3, 230 pound LB, you are probably going to pass the look test. Kendall Moore from Southeast Raleigh High School in Raleigh, North Carolina is no exception. The talented class of 2010 prospect already has offers from Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Being that Moore plays for the local high school, NC State is making it a priority to keep him in Raleigh.
“NC State is recruiting me hard and I live in Raleigh,” he said. “They are trying to get me to stay home and they talk to me a lot. They also send me a lot of mail and talk to my coach a lot.”
Even though NC State resides in the same city as Moore, he didn’t grow up a fan of the Wolfpack. He actually cheered for whatever program was “on the rise” at that time. Things haven’t changed that much for the talented linebacker; in searching for his perfect school he’s looking to find a school that’s currently on the rise, among other things.
“I didn’t really cheer for one team; I was always a bandwagon type of fan growing up,” he said. “I would also jump on the bandwagon until that team stopped doing well. I’m looking for a good program that is on the rise and also where I can fit in defensively. I want to find a place where I can show my potential and not wait too long because of the depth chart. Academics are also very important to me and location isn’t that important to me.”
Despite all of the attention from the Wolfpack, Moore hasn’t decided to trim his list down yet. It’s still early in the process and with a number of college coaches stopping by this spring, Moore is sure to collect more offers.
“Right now I’m wide open and any school that offers me I am going to give them a hard look,” said Moore. “I’m just trying to evaluate each of them and give them all a chance. If everything ended right now and I didn’t get any other offers, I would be happy with the offers that I have.”
Like many class of 2010 prospects, Moore plans on visiting a number of schools this spring and summer. While Moore isn’t ready to trim down his list and make a decision, once the offers come in his recruitment is sure to heat up.
“I plan on taking a lot of visits this summer,” said Moore. “My dad and I usually sit down and go through it every week. When the spring and summer approach, we’ll probably get a calendar and decide where we are going to go. I don’t have a timetable for my decision. I am just going to take my time and wait to see what other offers come in. As soon as I feel all of the offers have come in then I will start narrowing my list down.”
