Crestwood’s Wallace a sleeper for the 2010 class

To the residents of Sumter (SC), Darius Wallace is a household name. To the rest of the nation, Wallace is an unknown talent. With 15 sacks as a sophomore, and 23 sacks last season, it’s amazing that he currently has zero offers. At 6-2, 210 pounds, he is a nightmare for opposing offensive linemen to try and contain.
“I haven’t really heard from a lot of colleges yet, but I am interested in Georgia, NC State, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and Maryland,” says Wallace. “I have lived in South Carolina for 13 years but I was born in Georgia. My favorite team is Georgia and I grew up cheering for them. It’s my home state and they are a good football team.”
This past season, Wallace earned Region 6-AAA Defensive Player of the year honors, and also participates in Track. Despite his awards and impressive sack total, Wallace could play another position at the next level.
“I’ll most likely play linebacker in college but my favorite player in the NFL is Dwight Freeney,” he said.
Wallace’s Crestwood Knights were Region 6AAA Champions this past season before losing in the 3rd round of the playoffs to the eventual state champion Myrtle Beach Seahawks. The Seahawks were able to get revenge since the Knights ended their season in 2007. The goals next season for this star DE/LB are simple. He wants to make sure that he stays injury free, as well as helping his team win a state title and breaking the record he set last season for sacks. As Wallace trains this offseason, he will also attend a number of camps this summer hoping to find the school that will provide the best fit.
“I’ll probably take a few visits this summer to a couple of camps,” says Wallace. “Right now, I haven’t decided what camps I will go to. The main things I’m looking for are education to see if they have my major, and if the school has a good athletic program.
