James Washington is one of the top running backs in Central Florida this year. After a highly productive junior year last season, the Orlando Boone standout is starting to get some attention from a number of college programs. Washington has agreed to give AthleteVault.com an inside look at his recruitment through a recruiting diary. In volume 4, Washington receives his first offer.
Last Friday night, Boone had their spring jamboree against University and Winter Park. The University game was a close one but Washington ran up the middle and broke a couple of tackles to score the go ahead touchdown off of a long run. Washington received some interest during the evaluation period from schools such as Georgia Tech, FAU, Western Michigan, and UCF. Those schools and a number of others came by to see Washington in action during spring practice. This summer Washington plans on attending a number of camps and hopes to perform well and add some more offers.
“Duquesne University recently offered me a full scholarship,” said Washington, “They were surprised that I haven't received any offers and the head coach decided to pull the trigger. I was very happy and thankful for their interest in me and the offer. This summer I will be attending multiple camps, including one at LSU. I will see what will happen in the upcoming months.”
