Roseborough big on academics

At 6-4 210 pounds, Josh Roseborough from Fairfield Central High School in South Carolina finished last season with 13 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss. The defensive end is receiving some early interest from a number of colleges, but there is one school that is currently recruiting him the hardest.
“I’ve received interest from Bentley, Duke, Vanderbilt, Johnson C. Smith, Western Kentucky, and Virginia,” Roseborough said. “I’ve been in contact with a lot of schools but none of them have expressed the interest that these schools have. I received an offer from Johnson C. Smith. Virginia wants me to come to their camp and Duke is really interested too. Virginia Tech is supposed to be coming by my high school. Duke is recruiting me the hardest right now.”
Roseborough currently has three schools at the top, but there’s one school that stand outs particularly for their academics.
“Duke, Virginia, and Vanderbilt are my top schools right now,” he said. “I’m really interested in Duke because that would be a great degree. A degree from Duke demands respect in the work field. I’d like to play for Duke and get my degree because they have one of the top medical universities.”
On the field Roseborough models his game after current New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan. Like Strahan, Roseborough excels in dropping into pass coverage as well as being a tenacious pass rusher. Recently he attended the Shrine Bowl combine and many of the coaches were impressed by his 4.53 40 time and think that he would excel at outside linebacker.
“I went to the Shrine Bowl combine and they wanted to move me to linebacker,” he said. “A lot of colleges have expressed seeing me play at outside linebacker because of my speed and height.”
Roseborough has currently visited Duke a couple of times, but has some visits to make in the near future. Academics will play a big part in his decision and he hopes to make his decision sometime next fall.
“I have visited Duke a couple of times and went to their junior day,” Roseborough said. “I was invited to Virginia’s junior day, but I was unable to make it. I’m going to visit Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Bentley soon. Academics are the main thing that I am looking for. I’m not really interested in team prestige because I want to major in medicine and get a degree. My dream is to be a doctor. If the school has a really good academic program, a good head coach, and a family oriented team then I am really interested in that. I’d like to make my decision during the middle of my senior football season. I also play basketball so the quicker that I make a decision the more sports I can play.”
