Emory Blake from Austin High School in Texas is one of the top wide receivers in the country and currently has seven schools at the top. Recently, he has collected a number of offers and visited two junior days at Texas and LSU. Every week, Blake trains with current LSU commit Russell Shepard and the two have become close friends.

“I went to junior days at Texas and LSU,” Blake said. “I workout with Russell every Sunday and he’s amazing. He’s getting better training with my dad and he’s really learning the basics of being a quarterback. Athletic wise, he’s all there and just needs the proper training of how to be a quarterback. A lot of people want him to be an athlete and he wants to be a quarterback. Playing with Russell would be amazing and I’d love to play with him at LSU. Russell says they like me a lot and are close to giving me an offer. If they are great, if not there are still other schools. I still want to look at different schools and see which one is best for me.”

So far, Blake has offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Northwestern, Arizona, Oregon, Vanderbilt, and Tulsa. One name absent from the list is the hometown team from Austin. Blake enjoyed his time on the Austin campus recently and has a new list of top schools.

“I went to the Texas spring game two weeks ago and it was a good visit,” he said. “I had a fun time and talked to the coaches a little bit. Nothing has really changed and they still want me to come to their camp and work out this summer. My top schools are Oregon, Tulsa, USC, LSU, Florida, Texas, and Texas Tech. I’m really evaluating them all fairly and talking to all of the coaches. I’m really seeing when I can visit them all and how much they all like me.”

Emory is the son of former NFL quarterback Jeff Blake. Jeff was originally from Sanford, Florida and if Emory ended up choosing Florida, it would bring him back close to where he is from.

“We did live in Florida and it would be cool to live there again,” he said. “At the same time, it comes down to where the best fit is for me for football and school wise.”

All of the schools on Blake’s list have successful college football programs and that among other things are a big draw to him. Blake wants to take it all in and find the school that he is most comfortable at.

“I’m just looking for a school with good academics, team chemistry, and a family atmosphere,” Blake said. “I also want a school with a national champion status as well because it would be nice to win a national championship. That would play a big part to at least have a chance to win a national championship. As far as making a decision, it really depends on where I am at and who has offered. I would go ahead and make a decision before the season starts if I felt close to a program. But, I also need to evaluate more schools and go on the official visits.”

More visits are next on the agenda for Blake and his family. He has a busy couple of weeks coming up and looks to spend plenty of time visiting schools in his home state of Texas.

“I’m visiting Tulsa in two weeks and the week after that is the Nike camp in Dallas,” Blake said. “The week after that, I am going to try and visit Texas Tech and that’s it for now.”
