When we last spoke with the FAMU High School linebacker, his top five consisted of Miami, Florida, Florida State, FAMU, and LSU. As of late, Willie Ferrell has picked up some new offers and is looking forward to visiting the defending national champions to check out their spring game.
“I now have offers from FIU, USF, UCF, FAMU, LSU, South Carolina, East Carolina, Minnesota, Maryland, and Illinois,” Ferrell said. “I don’t have a favorite, but I am going to visit LSU next weekend.”
Despite not having any favorites, there’s a lot to like about LSU according to Ferrell.
“I like a lot of things about LSU,” he said. “One big thing is they offered me and they have a winning program and are on the rise. They also are losing a couple of linebackers from this year and are losing some next year. That basically means that I’ll be able to get the chance to start and play right away. It’s the same thing with Maryland, because they need to sign 4 or 5 linebackers. Playing time is one of the main factors because I want to be a four year starter.”
So far, Ferrell has visited two campuses with one being Florida’s junior day and the other Florida State’s junior day. Now that spring practice is underway, Ferrell plans to see LSU’s spring game next weekend and he possibly might check out another school’s spring game.
“I went to Florida State’s junior day,” he said. “It was alright, we just went over there and hung out and went to a basketball game. I might go to Florida State’s spring game and I’m definitely going to LSU’s spring game on my visit.”
Recently, one of Ferrell’s close friends committed to Florida State. One would think that since Ferrell lives in Tallahassee and has a close friend that committed to Florida State would automatically put the Seminoles in the driver’s seat for Ferrell. He states that isn’t the case and he isn’t looking to make a decision anytime soon.
“I’m really close to Jajuan Harley,” Ferrell said. “Even though he’s going to Florida State, that won’t effect my decision on where I go. Florida State hasn’t offered me yet and I wasn’t a fan of them or any college team growing up. It doesn’t matter too much to me about staying in state. If I stay in state, it better be something good but as long as I am going to college that’s all I care about. Whenever I feel comfortable with a school, that’s when I will make my decision.”
